CopBuilt LLC ("CopBuilt", "we", "us") is an Indiana company that makes software for police departments: Duty Line HQ and CruiserDesk. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, and who processes it.

Duty Line HQ

Duty Line HQ is software for police departments. It sends department notifications (call-outs) to staff, routes calls and texts to a unit's duty line, and keeps the unit's on-call schedule.

What we collect

For each staff member an administrator adds: name, rank, badge number, work cell phone number and email address. For calls and texts to the duty line: the caller's number, the time, the message text, voicemail recordings and who answered. For notifications: who they were sent to and how each person answered.

How we use it

Only to run Duty Line HQ for that department: ringing and texting the on-duty and on-call staff, sending notifications, sending login codes, and keeping the department's call and notification log. We do not use it for marketing.

SMS and text messages

Staff receive texts only after agreeing to receive them, when their department's administrator adds their cell number. Message frequency varies. Message and data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out or HELP for help.

We do not sell or share your SMS opt-in data or personal information with third parties for marketing purposes. Phone numbers and consent are never shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes.

CruiserDesk

CruiserDesk is a Windows app that fills arrest forms from what an officer types once.

What stays on the officer's computer

Everything the officer types, including narratives and the names of suspects, victims and witnesses, is stored only on the computer where it was entered. It is never sent to us. Unfinished packets, packets waiting on lab results and saved department-form answers are encrypted for that Windows user. Unfinished packets are deleted when the PDF is made or after 7 days. Packets waiting on lab results are kept up to 30 days (an agency setting). Finished PDFs are deleted from the computer after 7 days by default. Copies the agency sends elsewhere, such as to the prosecutor, are controlled by the agency.

What goes through our portal

CruiserDesk uses an online portal that we run on Cloudflare. It holds only:

  • The agency's blank forms, form settings and officer list (name, rank, badge number and hire date), published by the agency's admin and digitally signed
  • The agency's license
  • An audit log of packets made, which includes the case number and the defendant's initials, and no other case information
  • Check-ins from each computer: computer name, program and forms version, and license number
  • Feedback the agency chooses to send, and crash reports (the type of error and where it happened, never the error message or any case data)

The portal never receives narratives or typed answers. All traffic to and from it uses HTTPS, and each agency can reach only its own data. We use this information only to deliver forms and licenses, show the agency which computers are up to date, provide support, and fix problems. Each agency is responsible for securing its own computers and for its own CJIS Security Policy compliance.

This website

This website does not use advertising or tracking cookies. If you use the contact form, we receive what you type in: your name, title, agency, state, email address, and optionally your phone number and message. The form is delivered to us by email through a form service (Web3Forms). We use it only to answer you and follow up about our products. We don't sell it or share it with anyone else.

Please do not submit arrest, case, or suspect information through the contact form.

Who processes data for us

  • Twilio places Duty Line HQ calls and sends its texts.
  • Cloudflare hosts Duty Line HQ, the CruiserDesk portal and this website, and stores their data, encrypted.
  • Web3Forms delivers contact form messages to us by email.

They process data only to provide those services to us.

Keeping and deleting data

Each department controls how long its Duty Line HQ log is kept, and an administrator can remove a person from the roster at any time. To ask about or remove your information, email [email protected] or call (317) 716-5073.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll post the new version here with a new "last updated" date.
